§ 30-34. Speed limits in specified places.

  • A speed limit shall be established and enforced within the city limits as follows:

    (1)

    Twenty-five miles per hour, unless signs or markings are in place indicating a greater or lesser permissible rate of speed, in all areas other than the school zones.

    (2)

    Fifteen miles per hour in the school zones during designated hours as shown on signs.

    (3)

    The speed limit for Red Cypress Road is hereby fixed at 35 miles per hour from the intersection of Red Cypress Road and U.S. Highway 90 to the intersection of Red Cypress Road and Martin Luther King Avenue; and 45 miles per hour from the intersection of Red Cypress Road and Martin Luther King Avenue to the intersection of Red Cypress Road and LA Highway 182.

    (4)

    Notwithstanding the foregoing, the marshal for the city shall be empowered to post a 25 mile per hour speed limit by the placing of appropriate signs in the center of Red Cypress Road at each end of the ball park located on the road during such times as he shall deem appropriate when the park is in use.
