§ 32-34. Simple possession of marijuana.
It is unlawful for any person knowingly or intentionally to possess marijuana unless such marijuana was obtained directly, or pursuant to a valid prescription or order from a practitioner as provided in Louisiana Revised Statutes, section 40:978 (R.S. 40:978), while acting in the course of his professional practice, or except as otherwise authorized by this section. Whenever any person pleads guilty or is convicted of possession of marijuana for the first time, he is punished as provided in section 1-9, or the conditional discharge provided by Louisiana Revised Statutes, section 40:983 (R.S. 40:983) may be applied.
