§ 38-72. Back-pressure backflow preventer devices.

  • All water customers of the city shall comply with the state plumbing code as it pertains to the installation, maintenance, and testing of back-pressure backflow preventer devices. The water customer required to have a back-pressure backflow preventer device shall field test the backflow preventer device annually to assure that such device provides continuing backflow protection. It is the responsibility of the water customer to ensure that such tests are made annually on or before August 15, and to provide certification to the city of the test results no later than September 1. If the test results show that the device does not provide continuing backflow protection, then the water customer shall make the necessary repairs or replacement within ten days of the testing, and provide certification of completed repairs or replacement to the city by September 1.
