§ 38-111. Water service connection charge.

Latest version.
  • (a)

Installation. The average cost of a complete residential water service which includes furnishing all of the material for a water service, tapping the water main, running the service line and installing the water meter and meter box is approximately $100.00 per service. The city does not feel that the customers should pay the full amount. Therefore, the residential water service connection charge is an amount as established by the mayor and city council from time to time per service for a curbside.

    (b)

    Commercial installations.

    (1)

Those commercial establishments capable of being served with a three-fourths-inch by five-eighths-inch meter shall pay the same connection charge as a residential customer.

    (2)

Those commercial establishments that require meter service one inch and larger pay the actual cost of the meter, plus the actual cost of the installation, plus ten percent overhead, plus applicable state and parish use and sales tax. For information purposes, the approximate cost of the meter itself is indicated in section 38-114.
