§ 8-39. Building maintenance commission.

  • (a)

    There is hereby created the building maintenance commission which shall consist of the members of the city council.

    (b)

    Jurisdiction of the commission shall extend to hearings and appeals under and in accordance with this building maintenance article.

    (c)

    The mayor or his designee shall serve as the chairman of the commission. The chairman shall not be a member of the commission. The city attorney, or his designee, shall be ex officio attorney for the commission.

    (d)

    The commission shall meet at least monthly to handle any hearing or other pending business, and if there is no hearing scheduled or other pending business it shall not be necessary for the commission to meet. However, meetings may be called at any time by the mayor or at the request of any three commission members.

    (e)

    Unless a quorum is present, the commission shall not take any binding or final action on any item. A quorum shall be defined as a majority of the total membership of the commission. The approval of a majority of the total membership shall be required for the commission to take official action on any matter.

    (f)

    To the extent it is practical and appropriate, the commission shall conduct its business pursuant to Robert's Rules of Order and may adopt such other procedural rules as it deems necessary.
