§ 2-9. Municipal elections to be held at same time as congressional elections.

Pursuant to the terms of R.S. 33:383(a) and (b), municipal elections shall be held at the same time as congressional elections, with the first such municipal election to be at the same time as the first congressional primary election after termination of the terms of office to which the municipal officers in office on the effective date of the ordinance from which this section is derived were elected. All officers elected subsequent to the effectiveness of this section shall take office on January 1 following their election and shall hold their office for four years.
