§ 40-20. License fee; renewal fee; transfer fee.

  • Every person, persons, firm, or corporation owning, operating, or controlling any motor vehicle coming under the terms and conditions of this article shall pay an initial license fee for each vehicle and shall register each said vehicle; the owner or other interested party will be issued a certificate of registration and a permit number or such as approved by the mayor. The renewal of registration and license hereby provided shall be due annually and shall be registered and payable on or before January 10 of each year. Transfer of the permit from one vehicle to another shall be charged per transfer. The mayor may deny issuance of the license for good cause, including, but not limited to, lack of insurance, expired vehicle inspection sticker, or unsafe condition of the vehicle. The license and registration fees shall be in amounts as established by the mayor and city council from time to time.
