§ 6-45. Impoundment of animal that bites a human being or another animal.

  • It shall be the duty of the marshal, the rabies control warden, or such other person or persons appointed by the marshal, and any police officer within the municipality, to impound or cause to be impounded any dog or other animal, whether registered or not, that has bitten a human being or another animal. Said officer or officers are empowered to use any reasonable means necessary to impound any such animal and may destroy same if in the judgment of the chief of police same is necessary.
