§ 8-5. Permit required.

  • (a)

    No person shall undertake the construction, alteration, repair or removal of any building or any structure or any appurtenances connected or attached thereto, without being granted a building permit by the city authorizing the contemplated work.

    (b)

    Any person desiring to undertake the construction, alteration, repair or removal of any building or any structure, or any appurtenances connected or attached thereto shall first make application at the office of the building official for a permit therefor, furnishing at the time a written statement setting forth the entire cost of said construction, remodeling, alteration or demolition, and information related to compliance with local zoning and subdivision ordinances; which statement must be signed by the owner or the owner's architect or builder, and it shall be unlawful to give any false or misleading statements therein.

    (c)

    In evaluating the cost of said construction, alteration, repair or removal, the building official is authorized to employ any guide, formula, factors or schedules reasonably related or designed to estimate the true value thereof, including, but not limited to, those employed by the state licensing board for contractors.
