§ 2-5. Grant of authority to housing authority.

  • (a)

    Findings of necessity. The mayor and city council hereby determines, finds and declares upon its own initiative in pursuance of the state Housing Authorities Law that:

    (1)

    Insanitary and unsafe inhabited dwelling accommodations exist in the city;

    (2)

    There is a lack of safe and sanitary dwelling accommodations in the city, available to families of low income at rentals they can afford;

    (3)

    Slum and blighted areas exist in the city; and

    (4)

    There is need for the housing authority to function.

    (b)

    Authority granted. In accordance with the foregoing findings, the housing authority is authorized to transact business and exercise its powers pursuant to the state Housing Authorities Law.
